‘They take advantage of that, it's OUR property’: Neighbors block shared driveway with cars and bulk trash, ignoring boundaries and pushing their neighbors to get the city involved

Some neighbor stories are sitcom material, minus the laugh track. One house, two driveways, endless chaos. The neighbors are parked like they are inventing new Tetris moves, blocking the start of the driveway and forcing episode after episode of waiting games just to get home. Even when a car finally moves, there is another one blocking the split in back or sitting smack in the middle of your precious parking spot.

The new low blows have come fast. Now they are dropping garbage on your turf, not just small things either, but three mattresses. Bulk disposal on someone else's property is peak community energy. Security cameras catch almost everything, but invisible boundaries do not seem to matter. The laundry cart incident is still fresh in the memory. One neighbor needed it, took it, and apologized in shaky translation. No harm meant, but also no warning.

Every request is met with more confusion than malice. If anyone just asked to use a spot or toss some bulk on your curb, there would be compromise and shared frustration, not silent theft and property party tricks. It is not about language. It is about basic neighbor courtesies and asking first. English, Spanish, or a phone app is fine. Mutual respect is not limited by dialect.

  • Oh they're really starting to annoy me. So for starters, we share a driveway; its our house, then the driveway, then the neighbors house.

  • The driveway leads to the back where it then splits and we have our own separate back yard and they have theirs.

  • Hopefully this makes sense. Over the last couple months, they continue to park right in the beginning of the driveway, meaning we'll come to pull in and cant at all.

  • Or they would have their car parked right in the middle of the start of the split in the driveway in the back, and I cant pull all the way into the driveway.

  • Multiple times within 2 weeks, i pulled in ready to park and theres a car in my spot.

  • Either have the family members that speak english ask or use the translator. I think its also a shocker for us, as this was our grandparents home we currently live in.

  • The house next door was the same neighborhoods from when they lived there in the 50s up till 2022 while I lived here and he passed away.

  • Then we didnt have anyone living next door for a good 2 years. Now we have people, who are nice btw i dont have anything bad to say about them, but they aren't respecting boundaries.
